3/18/2020 From Jane Daly:
Dear Chariho Families,
Per the Governor’s announcement today, school buildings will be closed to students for the next two weeks (March 23, 2020 – April 3, 2020). In place of attending school in each physical school building, the expectation is that all staff and students attend virtual or distance learning during these ten days, as they will count as ten school days. Family support will be essential to assist with continuing learning. Learning provides a structure and focus for our children during these uncertain times.
All district-sponsored extra-curricular activities and non-essential meetings are cancelled until further notice.
Virtual or distance learning is new to all of us. We have taught our students to be self-directed learners and quality producers. As we embark on this virtual journey, we will monitor and assess implementation and make adjustments as needed. We anticipate there may be bumps in the road, but know that the Chariho community has a growth mindset, and we will all figure it out by collaborating together.
Essentially our plan involves full virtual instruction for students in Grades 3-12. Paper packets for students in Grade PreK-1 will be provided for daily work beginning Tuesday, March 24. Students in Grade 2 will be provided with a hybrid approach of some virtual instruction, and daily work packets. More information to families will be forthcoming on how to access these packets, and about our PreK-12 virtual instruction plan.
In order to be sure that students will have a device (especially in Grades 2-4, which is not 1:1) and the internet access that they need, please complete the survey(s) below (thank you to the over 75% of families who have already responded!)

We will post information ASAP on our website related to technology support, including information for appointment sign-ups for our Chromebook Loaner Program, to begin on Thursday, March 19, 2020.
The CHARIHO Regional School District will continue to offer free “grab and go” breakfast and lunch to CHARIHO students, 18 and under, on Monday-Friday during this time. CHARIHO families can pick up meals at the front entrance of CHARIHO Regional High School, 453 Switch Road, Wood River Junction, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Chartwells staff will be available to pass out the packaged breakfast and lunch to each student. Students must be present to collect a meal.
We will continue to post updates regarding COVID-19, in addition to sharing information with our parents and staff via email and the district website.
While the doors to our buildings remain closed, the Chariho Regional School District will continue to support “All Kids….All of the Time”. As we suspend face-to-face instruction and pivot to virtual learning…..we have always stressed, our schools are much more than bricks and mortar, schools are about relationships, learning, and inspiration so all can thrive…. and it takes a village to raise a child. Now more than ever, we need to come together as a community to support our students, your child, and each other……
A continued thank you to all, your notes of support, caring, and willingness to help out have been much appreciated.
